Writing through orbits
The text is written in orbital movements that travel out and shift focus between
themes of exploration,
power, language, control, imaging, practices of mapping, bordering, nationalism
and astronomy
The text returns with each orbit to the particular position
of my body, its weight a situated reminder of my own location in relation to
each conceptual orbit
Writing out the orbits helped me to visualise the ten orbital journeys within the text and to recognise the different voices within each orbit - especially for the first two orbits which have a particularly different voice to the remaining orbits as they survey the terminologies and territories within the work, allowing the following orbits to travel further and bring the reader with them
